A 57-year-old man residing in Taichung recently discussed reconciliation with his ex-wife but was rejected. Shortly afterward, he sent a message via his mobile phone saying, “Farewell forever, I hate you, it ends today.”
Concerned that he might harm himself, his ex-wife reported the incident to the Taichung police for assistance. Based on the vehicle registration number and the location of the mobile phone signal, the police narrowed down the search area and found the man and his car near the beach of Houbihu in Kenting.

Longshui Police Station in Hengchun received a report that a man from Taichung had left home in his car after experiencing relationship problems and expressing a desire to reconcile with his ex-wife.
However, his ex-wife was unwilling, and he sent messages containing phrases such as “farewell forever” and “I hate you.” His ex-wife promptly reported the incident to the Taichung police for urgent assistance.
The police issued an alert through the dispatch center to locate the vehicle. By checking the license plate recognition system, it was discovered that the vehicle had last traveled along Provincial Highway 26 in Checheng Township, Pingtung County, heading south from the direction of Poya Hotel (泊逸飯店) . Further investigation using mobile phone signal data revealed that the location was near Houbihu in Kenting. The police conducted a comprehensive search based on this information.
After being taken back to the police station to rest, the man’s mental state gradually improved. The police assisted him in cleaning the ink stains from his hands and feet, and they bought milk from a convenience store to help detoxify his body.
Once he let his guard down, the man confided that he couldn’t let go of the guilt he felt towards his ex-wife due to relationship issues.
He became desperate after his attempt at reconciliation was rejected and contemplated using formaldehyde to induce unconsciousness and shock inside the car as a means to end his life.
However, after receiving counseling from the police, his mood gradually stabilized, and he assured the officers that he would not engage in such suicidal behavior again.
The man’s family also called to express their gratitude to the police for their concern, as they couldn’t bear to imagine the consequences otherwise.
