Windy Coast B&B 微風海岸民宿 is an ideally located beachfront B&B in Houwan, Kenting, with a stunning sea view balcony – just a perfect place to be while in Houwan. The room on the third floor (featured in this post) has a lovely terrace, a bath, a stunning view all over Houwan Bay, and the National Museum of Marine Biology. This place has no English name; at least booking.com shows only Chinese, so “Windy Coast” is my unofficial translation. If you want to find a place to book on booking platforms, when I am writing this, you will need to use a Chinese name. The property is well worth staying in if you love the secluded and calm ambiance of Houwan.
Main Reasons to stay at Windy Coast B&B (微風海岸民宿)
- Windy Coast B&B is located in the heart of Houwan Beach, just on the Houwan Bay Walking Promenade
- It is almost a beachfront property
- Houwan Beach is swimmable
- Houwan Cafe is within a walking distance
- If you take a room on the 3rd floor you have a balcony with a stunning view of Houwan Bay and the National Museum of Marine Biology.
- Houwan Bay is a gem itself – away from crowds in Nanwan or Baishawan, but those beaches are still within driving distance.
Where is the Sea Shore Hotel located?
When you drive down to Kenting via Road Nr 26, just take a turn to Checheng Township or head to the National Museum of Marine Biology, you will inevitably find Houwan Village and Houwan Beach, and Windy Coast B&B is right there.
If you are interested in taking a more laid-back vacation in a southern village in Taiwan, swimming in Houwan Beach, and enjoying far less crowded beach, but still in Kenting National Park this is a place to be.
In fact, you can park a car near the B&B, but they also offer a free bigger parking a little bit ahead

Lobby area is also nicely designed, besides the dining tables, also a sofa is there.

There are several type of rooms available in Windy Coast B&B, and we stayed on the third floor – a room with a nice terrace featuring an outdoor bath, chairs and a table to sit outside enjoying the view. If you walked in and out of the terrace into the room, you will immediately notice, that hosts were carefully thinking about the design and elements in the room, and also on the terrace. There are 2 beds king-sized beds, comfortable pillows, and comfortable blankets – all that you expect for a good night’s sleep.

They even managed to fit in this leather sofa and table!
I always emphasize that it is essential to look at the details at these homestays – if hosts are paying attention to many small details in decoration and amenities – most likely a service and all the impression for the whole stay will be good! Just check this nightstand between tables – it fits so nicely in the bright interior, and this “cosmic” souvenir ball is nice as well – notice, that even though there are tissues already on the table near the sofa in the above picture, there is just one more in the middle on the nightstand! Nice!
Considering the fact that maybe less than 10% of hotels in Kenting are really waterfront properties, this is really extremely nice view:

The Balcony With a Seaview
The terrace balcony here a simply superb place to be. It has not only this outdoor bathtub – which you may or may not be comfortable enough to be using, since it is, after all – in the open space (but if you see our 360-degree tour, someone can’t see you there, I guess), but also a dining table, and the egg shaped swing chair:
Plenty of place to sit, and best of all – you can move these chairs around, to sit closer to the wall, or if you prefer shadow, then leave them as they are!
The fish-shaped building you have a view from a balcony is the National Museum of Biology.

This is a view on the other side – to the street side – absolutely stunning as well, with an actual small fishing village vibe!

Bathroom in Windy B&B
Windy B&B bathroom itself is not big – toilet and shower, but it is clean and modern style. The shelf, and sink, with bathroom amenities and towels are actually right besides the bathroom door, and near the main entrance:
All the amenities are provided without a request, and fake claims that toothbrush is not provided, “because we are green and environment friendly”.
For my taste, golden color taps are a bit of overkill at any design except for Luvre, but let it be:
Apparently, hosts are tech lovers, you can see in the gallery above a round mirror with a light, aka “bloggers mirror”, a wireless phone charger, and then here we have this touch screen in the bathroom mirror:

This is one of the best B&B I have stayed till now in the Kenting area, and its location is also great, if you are interested explore Houwan more closely. It’s worth to stay a night or two.
