Kenting was and still is a best a resort for summer water activity, and the slowing down of epidemic had coincided with the summer vacation.
In addition, with international travel subsidy from Ministry of Transportation and Communications, tourists going for water appeared at every recreational beach; in order to maintain the safety of tourists playing in the water, the fire department of the county purchased a batch of remote-controlled electrical lifebuoy equipment dedicated to Kenting and Hengchun branches. When an accident of drowning occurs, rescue personnel can use the remote-controlled electric lifebuoy to implement rapid rescue of drowning persons; this would help improve the efficiency of the rescue operation.

When the firefighters used the powered electric lifebuoy, they can use the air camera to confirm the location of the drowning person; at the moment when releasing the electric lifebuoy into the water, there was dispatch of another batch of personnel to drive the water motorcycle to implement rescue synchronously, fire bureau of the county said, adding that it can attain the longest distance of up to 500 meters and a top speed of 30 kilometers per hour, and drowning victims can float at sea with the assistance of an electric lifebuoy while waiting for rescue.
Kenting National Park has four popular recreational beaches which include South Bay (Nanwan), Little Bay (Xiaowan), Chuanfan Rock Beach, and Baishawan Beach.
The Fire Bureau of the Hengchun branch had recently completed field operation drills for different situations which included mechanical training drills of electric lifebuoy as well as simulation of actual water rescue of drowning person to enhance water rescue capabilities of rescue personnel.
This new technology of water rescue and drowning prevention was faster than human swimming of which it was of great help to enhance the capability of disaster relief, the firefighters who participated in the drill said, adding that however, it would not be of great help when there were strong winds and waves.
