Bay251 Guesthouse 灣境海邊小屋 is almost a beachfront property located in picturesque, calm Banana Bay, just in front of Banana Bay Fishing Harbour and a short walk from Banana Bay Beach and intertidal zone, where swimming and snorkeling are possible. This guesthouse is next door to the small Banana Bay Fishing Port Inspection office, which allows a pure immersion into a small southern fishing port atmosphere in Southern Taiwan while still close to the beach. Eluanbi Lighthouse is a short drive away.

Where is the Bay 251 Guesthouse located?
If this is the first time you have heard about Banana Bay, then consider this a lucky day – This beach is located pretty much in the extreme south of the Hengchun Peninsula, and belongs to Eluanbi Village – so when you drive down from Chuanfan Rock Beach down to the Eluanbi – Banana Bay will be right in the middle, look for the Beach Bistro blue themed restaurant on the left side of the road to not miss the turn!
If you are interested in taking a more laid-back vacation near a small fishing port in Taiwan, swimming in Banana Bay Beach, and enjoying far less crowded beach, but still in Kenting National Park this is a place to be.
Arriving and Parking at to Bay251 B&B
Arriving at Bay251 is easy; there is plenty of space to park near Banana Bay Fishing Harbour and even more near the small blue gate, which is the entrance to the yard of the Bay251 guesthouse. You can look around at our 360-degree virtual tour and see what the surroundings look like.
If you look the right, you will see the Banana Bay Fishing Inspection office, which is just near Bay251, and it is this office, that offers a real & nice feel of staying at this small southern harbor.
After you go into the spacious yard, first you notice the big tree with a small table under it:

On the right, behind the small blue-and-white fence still is the Banana Bay Fishing Harbour Inspection office, while the big Barringtonia asiatica tree with a small table under it – offers a stunning sea view of the Banana Bay Fishing Harbour, and the nearby coast.

We are staying in the building that is the most far away from entrance, or in above photo it is the one with a door most far away. Lets go more near the entrance to the room itself:
Take a look around again. As you can see, most of the view is occupied by the Harbour Inspection office, but the sea is clearly visible, so the rooms are sea view.
Yellow building is Mishe B&B – another alternative to stay while in Banana Bay.
These flowers of Barringtonia asiatica are everywhere in the yard – gorgeous!

The room itself is not very big, and the bathroom and living room are made as one big “loft” style property, however, in this case, it still has this southern beach house charm in it – a little bit of Greece feel, little bit only – with some fish on the wall. Yes, you do get a little bit of sea view from the house we stayed in – I guess the more frontal-oriented rooms have better views from the window, but I love the view on inspection office (somehow).
Bathroom in Bay251 B&B
Like I said above, the bathroom and toilet are literally in the same room, and if you are a couple that is…. well, just recently got together (or not a couple – yet), then let me tell you – you see a WC while laying on the bed, and there is no curtains or door:

There are also no curtains, just a glass wall to stop water splashing out of the bed. Room amenities are supplied, but the most necessary ones only, well…a toothbrush and that’s it. Of course, shower has a shampoo and soap, so for the price and the class of the stay – well in the expected range. Towels are also provided, small ones and the big ones as well, 2 sets of each.
Breakfast at Bay251
You get breakfast served to you at morning at your selected time, and ours looked like this:
Two sandwiches, salad, watermelon, and coffee or tea of your choice. It is typically served at homestays in Kenting, similar to a breakfast in Nanwan Station Hotel.
To have a sea view breakfast, and morning shade, as in the photo above, choose to sit at this table near the middle building.

Considering all the above said and reviewed, I recommend staying at Bay251 based on my own experience – a small, charming beach house; even if it does not have direct access to the beach, it offers its charm, and experience is well worth the money paid.
