Elevation and History
Shimen Mountain, affectionately known as Shimumu Mountain, stands proudly at 384 meters. This area, once a strategic military base, is now a blend of an indigenous reserve and a forest compartment under the stewardship of the Pingtung Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau. To prevent soil erosion and landslides and for the management of Sihchong River, this area was designated as a soil conservation forest in the 18th year of the Republic (1929) under Announcement No. 36, with efforts made in forest cultivation to preserve its natural appearance.

We advise checking the bus schedule in advance due to limited services. The trailhead is a short 500-meter walk from the Shimen Ancient Battlefield parking area located at 29.9K.
