When the park staff patrolled the area in the morning, they were shocked to find another Formosan Sika deer tied to the ground, drenched in rain, and nearly lost its life.

They also discovered other Formosan deer with multiple injuries. After reviewing the surveillance footage, the despicable actions of the thieves were exposed, and the park management immediately reported the incident to the police.

Early in the morning, the operators of the Kenting dedicated Formosan Deer Ecological Park were checking for damages caused by the typhoon. To their shock, they found one Formosan deer bound and injured on the ground. The intense winds and heavy rain had frightened the deer, causing it to run for its life, and many other deer in the park were also injured. Still shaken, the operators checked the surveillance footage to find answers.

Around 2 a.m. during the typhoon, they spotted a man wearing a bathrobe sneaking into the park, acting suspiciously. He began chasing the Formosan deer, causing them to panic and sustain injuries during the pursuit. The man managed to capture one of the deer and forcibly tied it up, then proceeded to capture another. From the recorded angle, the malevolent act was evident. In total, two Formosan deer were stolen.

The intention seems quite clear. They are trying to directly sabotage our efforts, sneaking a glance after getting past the fence, and then climbing over the wall to steal the Formosan deer.

The business owners feel both heartbroken and furious. The thieves came prepared and deliberately chose a typhoon day to commit the crime. The security ultimately failed to notice the intrusion in the park.

The bound deer was left there from around two in the morning until after nine in the morning before it was discovered, nearly losing its life.

The deer was probably quite big, but it might have struggled, or it could have slipped away from me for a moment, so they couldn’t control it.  Or they ccidentally dropped it on the ground and then ran off.

After the business owner reported the incident, the Hengchun police intervened in the investigation. They pointed out that the individual responsible for the crime broke into the park by climbing over the fence, and heartlessly stole two Formosan Sika deer.

The business owner estimated a loss of about 40,000 NT dollars, and with an expanded review of the surrounding surveillance footage, the authorities have already identified the perpetrator’s whereabouts. They are determined to ensure that the individual faces liability for their actions.
