Spectacular Stops on Your Way to Kenting: The Fuan and Guishan Bridges

I already mentioned several times that your way to Kenting, should not be just a direct, non-stop drive down to Nanwan, or even Sail Rock Beach, or wherever you head to for your Kenting holiday. You could choose to stop by in any of the legendary coastal Coffee Trucks, such as Ajie, or Hetian Coffee, or make a turn into the coastal area of Fangshan to the relatively new Fangshan Coffee lounge

On the coastal scenic road (turn right at the Haikou port to take coastal scenic road), there are two beautiful cable-stayed bridges, the Fuan Bridge and the Guishan Bridge, which have caught the public’s attention. The bridges span over Baoli River and SheLiao River, connecting Xingjie Village, She-Liao Village, and directly reaching Houwan Village.

Entering the coastal scenic road following the signs for Haikou Port, the two cable-stayed bridges lay over Sichong River and Baoli River. Named after the nearby attractions Fuan Temple and Guishan Trails, their unique landscape serves as a vanguard to attract tourists to Kenting’s West Coast.

hey have become new scenic highlights in Checheng Township and a favorite among travelers. The Houwan Aquarium is located at the far end of the two bridges, playing a vital role in connecting major attractions on the Hengchun Peninsula. The bridges also feature roadways, scenic walkways, and bike paths.

Visitors can enjoy the natural scenery of sunsets and seabirds foraging under the golden sunset; at night, the LED landscape lights make the bridges dazzlingly beautiful, transforming Checheng into a city that never sleeps. The coastal drift phenomenon in different seasons adds an interesting charm. During dry winters, sandbars form, closing the river mouth and creating a ‘disappeared creek’; in the summer rainy season, the river’s sandbars are eroded by the water flow, forming a sand spit and showing diverse changes with the seasons.
