Not so long ago, we already wrote about the lethal accident near Sheding Nature Park in Kenting, when a motorcyclist collided with a Formosan Sika Deer, which caused death for human and the deer as well.
The successful conservation of Formosan sika deer in Kenting National Park was marred by an incident on the evening of the 8th of January 2023 on Provincial Highway 26.
A Formosan sika deer suddenly darted onto the road, and the driver could not react in time, resulting in a collision and damage to the vehicle.
The Land Administration Bureau stated today that compensation can be applied for under public liability insurance for accidents, same statement as they did for the case with a motorcyclist.

On the 8th, at 22:00, an accident occurred on the southbound lane of the Tazi Sixteen Line, Chuannan Road, under the jurisdiction of this sub-bureau. It involved a collision between a small passenger vehicle and a Formosan sika deer. The accident was caused by the sudden dash of the Formosan sika deer onto the road, and the driver was unable to avoid it in time. The driver of the small passenger vehicle was unharmed, with only minor damage to the left front bumper. The Formosan sika deer left the scene on its own. It should be noted that most areas within our jurisdiction fall within the boundaries of a national park, and wild animals often appear on the roads. Drivers should always pay attention to the conditions ahead to ensure road safety.
