As we can see from the above graph, the hottest month in Kenting will be July, while the coldest month is January.
This reason alone already suggests to avoid coming to Kenting in January & February, at this month, even at the daytime usually the wind is pretty cold, and it is a bit too cold for the water activities.

Good news first – since Kenting climate is classified as the tropical climate, statistics show, that you won’t be freezing in Kenting, even in the coldest months, such as January or February.

Although these weather events may only last a few hours, tourists in Kenting urged the public to exercise caution because they can cause flooding almost anywhere.
It can be especially dangerous in some mountainous regions – for example in Manzhou. Torrential rains can cause landslides and rocks to fall down on the roads.

This is because Plum Rain is usually strong, but same time relatively short in time, as we can see summer months, especially August are the heaviest in precipitation, so the biggest chance to have a rainy day in your Kenting holiday is in August.

Is Kenting a safe place to be during a typhoon in Taiwan?
Typhoon is a very specific issue, and we already discussed it in the article about safety in Kenting, in general.
Typhoon Season in Taiwan (and so in Kenting) usually starts in July and ends in September, therefore – prepare for at least 1 or 2 typhoons in summer in Kenting.
Not all typhoons are devastating, but if they are – it is better to be safe, and not in mountainous areas, where you can easily get under the landslide.

While weather is an important factor, when you plan your trip to Kenting, be sure to not have it at the the time where large public holidays take place in Taiwan, you can always google the closest current holidays in Taiwan. However, the most important (and crowded ones, with epic traffic jams and overbooked hotels, are usually Chinese New Year – avoid at every cost, Dragon Boat Festival, and Tomb Sweeping.
Of course, if you are permanently in Taiwan, and you can take a holiday only at these timeframes, then you have no choice, but if you have a choice – don’t book in these holidays.

The best months to visit Kenting are April and October.
In April weather already is enough warm, and the daytime is even hot, while still pretty dry – the weather is nice and the wind is not strong.
In October, scalding hot summer weather is over, while it is still nice and warm, daytime even hot, while all the rain season and typhoons are over.
