Typhoon Kompasu brought strong winds to the Hengchun Peninsula in Pingtung, causing numerous fallen trees and broken branches in Kenting and Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Areas. The Pingtung Branch of the Forestry and Conservation Bureau has closed the parks on the 6th and 7th for environmental preparation. Tengzhi National Forest Recreation Area, Cuigu Mountain House, and Beidawu Mountain Trail are temporarily closed on the 6th and will reopen once safety is assured. The Linhou Silin Plain Forest Park in Chaozhou Town will operate generally from the 6th; in Kenting National Park, the temporary office of Eluanbi Park collapsed more severely.

Typhoon Kompasu made landfall at Eluanbi at 8:20 am on the 5th. After inspecting facilities at park locations, the Kenting Management Office identified heavily damaged areas, including 200 fallen trees and numerous tilted utility poles at the Manzhou Nanrenshan Management Station; many broken and fallen road trees from the Kenting Archway to the Forest Recreation Area; a whole row of broken utility poles from Yongjing to Xinzhuang; fallen branches from Houbihu, tree obstructions from the Visitor Center to the parking lot trail; the collapse of the temporary office and damage to the octagonal pavilion in Eluanbi Park; numerous fallen trees on the Sodding Highway, and large signposts tilted on the 4-1 road and Sand Tail section; many fallen trees on the Longluantan Trail.
The Kenting Management Office states that after receiving successive statuses from various points, contract engineering contractors were immediately notified to carry out emergency repairs.
Clean-ups started in sequence, beginning with roads affecting public passage, clearing fallen trees at each point, and emergency repairs to various facilities and signs, with large-scale facility damage being initially blocked off; 4-1 Road and Sand Tail Road have been cleared, and Sodding Road clearance is underway; since there are many disaster situations in the Hengchun area and officials are all mobilized for emergency repairs, the overall capacity for engineering is insufficient and will take more days to be arranged appropriately.”
