The Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration is currently hosting the “Extreme Slow Travel – Cycling to the Southernmost Point at Eluanbi Lighthouse” event. 260 cyclists are starting their journey at Eluanbi Park, exploring the Hengchun Peninsula on bicycles. Director Hsu Chu-lung stated that this event is part of the “Taiwan Lighthouse · Light up Taiwan Extreme Slow Travel” series.
Starting from the southernmost point at Eluanbi Park, participants can enjoy Kenting attractions, connect with more than 20 tourism-related businesses in Pingtung, and engage in a checkpoint-based exploration to allow people to explore the Hengchun Peninsula leisurely.
Hsu Chu-lung pointed out that the “Taiwan Lighthouse – Light up Taiwan Extreme Slow Travel” series is a bicycle event centered around the lighthouses at the four extremities of Taiwan. In this particular event, starting from the southernmost point at “Eluanbi Park,” participants will pass through well-known attractions in Pingtung such as Longpan Park, Shuiwaku Grassland, and Fengchuisha. They will also connect with epic drama scenes from “Seqalu,” including the Chuhuo Scenic Area, Baoli Gong An Temple, and Kenting Dawan Wan Ying – Princess Babao Temple.
He mentioned that to offer a more comprehensive and diverse experience, the event has also collaborated with local accommodation businesses. Participants who stay at legally registered hotels or homestays within the county on the night before the event can receive an accommodation subsidy of 500 NTD upon presenting their receipts.
Additionally, they are providing bicycle and electric bike rental services along with a rental subsidy of 300 NTD. If participants use both the train and the high-speed rail, they can redeem a “Leisure Postman Parcel – 休閒郵差小包” with their train tickets and a group photo of themselves with their bikes.
The event was hosted by Taiwan’s top female bicycle YouTuber, “Linda愛打卡打掐.” She mentioned that through this ride, she gained a deeper understanding of the Hengchun Peninsula and enjoyed watching the performance of the “極太鼓” (Extreme Drum) group from Kenting Elementary School, which has been around for almost a decade. She exclaimed, “It was so much fun!”
