Kenting Village 墾丁里

Kenting Village is a flagship village of the whole area and the Kenting National Park bears the name of this village, even if the village is much smaller than the whole area of the national park.

Kenting Village, which is part of Kenting, is the main tourist hub in the area. It is a lively town filled with hotels, resorts, restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. The village serves as a gateway to the national park and offers convenient access to its various attractions.

Even if formally Kenting’s pinyin transcription is Kending (with a “d”), it is called Kenting, and you are read more about it in this article. 

Kenting Village, is located in the southern part of Taiwan, specifically in Pingtung County.

It is a renowned tourist destination famous for its stunning beaches, natural landscapes, and vibrant streets. Kenting Village is bordered by Nanwan Village to the east, Hengchun Township to the south, Eluanbi Park to the east, and the Taiwan Strait to the south.

The village covers an area of approximately 10.9733 square kilometers. It has a population of around 1397 people, but this number is likely much bigger since most of the B&Bs, hotels, pubs, bars and restaurants are concentrated in this area, so there are more people on the spot at any time of the year.

Due to the thriving tourism industry, Kenting Village has undergone significant changes and is now a bustling area with diverse international influences.

The presence of attractions such as Kenting Night Market (a huge landmark for Taiwan itself, not only Kenting), Kenting Forest Recreation Area, Sheding Nature Park, ranches, and the Forestry Research Institute has attracted a large number of visitors, making Kenting’s streets vibrant and the land highly valuable.

The 3 most popular (and expensive) beach resorts also are located in Kenting Village, namely Chateau Beach resort,  Caesar Park Kenting, and Howard Beach Resort.

Kenting village also comprises 2 the biggest beaches in the Kenting area – Dawan (Big Bay) beach and Xiaowan (Small Bay beach).  

Kenting Village is also where the insanely popular Spring Scream music festival occurs every year. The Spring Scream (Chinese: 春天吶喊) is an outdoor music festival held in early April each year at Kenting. 

The Kenting Night Market, also located in Kenting Village, is a bustling and vibrant street market in Kenting, Taiwan. It offers a wide array of local street food, souvenirs, and entertainment, attracting both tourists and locals alike.
