These small eateries in Taiwan are called Xiǎochī 小吃 – which literally translated from Chinese means “small eats“, and sometimes are wrongly translated as “snacks“, and that’s wrong, because while they usually are small, and tables and chairs simple, and food are cooked near the tables and sometimes on street – these usually will offer a full menu, with soups, main dishes and beyond!
