Two Canadian friends, a man and a woman, rode on two scooters to Kenting National Forest Recreation Area this morning. The 32-year-old female tourist lost control of her scooter and fell off the road, sliding down and tumbling into a 4-meter deep slope. The male tourist behind her saw her wobbling and, fearing a collision, swerved to avoid her and also fell. The two scooters did not collide with each other.
The fire brigade was called to rescue the female tourist who was trapped between tree branches on the slope. Both had abrasions and were taken to the hospital for treatment. There was no drunk driving involved.
he fire department stated that the female tourist was conscious but trapped between tree branches on the slope, crying out in pain from a large abrasion on her right leg. The male tourist was unable to climb down to help her by himself.
Passersby called for help and comforted the woman. At 10:30, the county fire department dispatched teams from Kenting, Hengchun, and Manzhou, totaling 4 vehicles and 8 personnel. By 11:22, they rescued the individuals. The male had abrasions on various parts of his body and was sent to Nanmen Hospital in Hengchun for treatment, and the female was also taken to Nanmen for treatment.

From the footage, you can see that when the Canadian female rider fell, thankfully, she was blocked by a tree trunk that had fallen due to typhoon Koinu which took place in Kenting a month ago. Otherwise, this Canadian female rider might not have survived!
This tree is a hero, it lost its life, but still saved the life of a Canadian tourist!
