During the coral spawning season, the Kenting National Park conducts underwater monitoring at the scenic spots and water outlets. The sight of various corals releasing their reproductive cells creates a mesmerizing underwater scene akin to a starry sky.

This natural wonder of Kenting’s coral spawning occurs around the 23rd day of the third lunar month, coinciding with the birthday of the sea goddess Mazu.

The Kenting National Park conducts underwater monitoring at the scenic spots and water outlets, observing coral species such as pillar coral, branching cup coral, mushroom coral, and pore coral.

In another development, discarded oil drums have drifted to the hidden gem of a scenic spot, Turtle Rock, in Xiao Liuqiu, Pingtung.

This has raised concerns among ecological guides. Huang Cheng-cheng 黃誠誠, an ecological guide, expressed worry, saying, “They are filled with waste oil. We need to remove these barrels.”

If the waste oil leaks, it could seriously harm the marine ecosystem. The incident has been reported to the Coast Guard, who will investigate the source of the oil drums, and violators will be fined accordingly.
