Conservation Animal Crab-Eating Mongoose Found Eating and Scavenging Garbage in Kenting National Park, creating an embarrassing scene.
After an investigation by the Kenting National Park Administration, it was found that the garbage truck belonged to Hengchun Township Office, which has now been removed to prevent harm to conservation animals and avoid becoming an international joke.
This is not the first case when this guy is getting attention in Kenting and is featured in my blog. Earlier, crab-eating mongoose have been captured for eating hermit crabs in Kenting’s Youth Activity Center.

The Crab-eating Mongoose approached the cardboard boxes to sniff for food and then searched through the nearby bags and cups.
When it saw humans approaching, it glanced twice but, being very hungry, it didn’t mind being filmed and continued its food search.
The video was taken in Kenting National Park, where the environment for the Crab-eating Mongoose to find food was filled with cardboard boxes, plastic cups, wood, and plastic bags.
Seeing a conservation animal rummaging through the garbage was shocking, with a garbage truck nearby.
This footage could become a laughingstock internationally. After investigation, the Kenting National Park Administration discovered that the garbage truck belonged to Hengchun Township Office.
It was placed in remote areas for the convenience of residents in disposing of garbage. However, the sight of garbage being scattered and coexisting with the Crab-eating Mongoose was bewildering.

It is understood that Hengchun Township Office has already implemented a policy of no littering, but there are still a few garbage trucks in some remote communities for residents to collect garbage. However, sometimes when the amount of garbage is excessive, it may overflow from the truck, leading to situations where wild animals forage near the garbage bins. The township office has also removed the garbage truck in question.
The Crab-eating Mongoose is named for its preference for eating crabs. It is a rare and precious wildlife species under conservation.
It usually appears in the early morning or evening and is accustomed to foraging near streams. In addition to crabs, it also consumes fish, birds, mice, and frogs. However, garbage is not part of its natural diet. The township office has urgently retrieved the garbage truck to prevent conservation animals from consuming harmful substances.
