Mawar Typhoon has already issued a maritime typhoon warning. However, some still have come to the Kenting sea area and even brought children to play on the beach.
Although it may seem like the waves are fine here by the seaside, they could be swept away if a sudden big wave hits, which is quite dangerous.
As 東森新聞 reports in the above video, even if sea warnings had been issued and waves were rising, some people are behaving completely recklessly, putting themselves and even their kids in danger.
According to the data from the Meteorological Bureau, the wave height along the Hengchun coast was approximately 3 to 6 meters, with some areas reaching over six meters. Moreover, as the time gets later, the wave height also increases. However, the public witnessed a shocking sight at Kenting’s Star Sand Beach pier.
A female tourist wearing white clothes walked all the way from the shore along the pier area to the front of the platform, and she even stopped on the pier to take photos, regardless of the giant waves crashing nearby, which could have easily swept her away.
The female tourist seemed wholly oblivious and continued taking photos until her friend came to her and finally urged her to leave, putting an end to this dangerous situation. Apparently, she was not our reader when we warned that typhoons are the single biggest threat to females in Kenting.
However, at the same time, on the other end of Star Beach, a couple of parents directly crossed the blockade and brought their child to the beach for water activities.
It can be seen that during this playtime in the sand, the entire beach was gradually engulfed by the giant waves, and even the water had reached the child’s body, causing the child to scream in fear.
Only then did the parents realize the situation and take the child away from the dangerous area, but they should have been more cautious. Audience friends, due to the recent typhoon Mawar, a maritime typhoon warning has been issued.
Therefore, in Kenting, including Nanwan beach, Xiaowan beach, and Dawan beach, barricades have been set up, and swimming is prohibited. In Dawan though, swimming is permanently prohibited even in normal weather.
