Last weekend, quite a few people were visiting the Kenting area in southern Taiwan, including yesterday at Nanwan beach, which is fortunate for them. They managed to enjoy the summer just before the Saola typhoon hit.
However, due to the typhoon, some people had to change their plans abruptly and decided to check out early.
With the summer vacation ending soon, hotels and Airbnb hosts have indicated that the occupancy rate will only be around 50% by the end of August. Additionally, with a typhoon Saola on the way, a wave of checkouts might be anticipated shortly.

Still, even this Sunday wavesafter wave, adults and children are enjoying themselves in the water without reservation.
They rode jet skis and banana boats, a group engaged in water activities, relishing the thrill of sculpting through the waves. Some fathers took on the role of instructors, surfing together with their children:
A school semester in Taiwan is about to start, so people try to grasp the final days of summer vacation, and many people are heading to Kenting. As Typhoon Saola changes its course and runs northward, the meteorological bureau predicts its impact on Taiwan, especially on the 30th and 31st, when the rain might be the heaviest, and there’s a possibility of strong winds and distant road closures due to the storm.
Local businesses also are trying to catch last profits till the school years starts, by offers banana boats and other activities

As the evening goes on, the crowd of people on the right side by the seaside, the number of tourists on Kenting’s main street is fewer than the previous Saturday, and the occupancy rate has also declined.

Lin Shumin, Chairman of Pingtung Homestay Association, says, “that’s how it ended, with just a few college students on the third and fourth floors. If the typhoon arrives, our accommodation won’t be as nice as it was during the summer break, so the impact isn’t significant.
Regarding checkouts, a few rooms have been vacated by children, which is manageable. Students are getting ready to start school, so towards the end of the month, these few days might not be very busy, probably around a 50% occupancy rate.”
